The fall season is here and there’s a few new trends that we have to spread the word about! We constantly monitor what we see on the runways and what designers are starting to incorporate into the lines to put together these kinds of lists. There’s a few things we’ve observed as upcoming trends that you should jump on right away, fashionista!
Fall Trend #1: Black & White (or Tan)
Basics are a trend we’ve seen a few seasons in a row and they play out in black and white or black and tan ensembles. Sometimes, you can say everything without saying much at all and these elevated simple looks say trendy! Don’t be afraid of throwing a pair of jeans into the mix too. Jeans are always a great basic!
Trend #2: Yellow & Olive
This shouldn’t be a total surprise as yellow and olive have always been a part of the fall palette, but we’re seeing some new shades.
We’re calling the yellow more of a “seventies yellow” which is totally fitting considering the seventies are a decade of fashion that some elements are coming back from (hello, flared jeans). This yellow is a little more muted and dusty compared to a bright yellow.
As for olive, again we’ve seen this before. But in past years it’s been more of a deeper, richer olive. This year we’re seeing a lighter, dustier version. Don’t throw out your deeper olives though as green in general is what’s what for fall.
Trend #3: Cherry Red
When we think of fall colors in the red family we typically think about burgundy or merlot. But all that changes this year with the cherry red we’re seeing everywhere! It reminds us of the brightest red leaves you see on fiery maple trees and it is oh so gorgeous in fashion! We’ve been seeing it used in accessories like purses and leather books. Jackets and outerwear are also another great place to make a statement with this color. But honestly, we’re loving it for tops, shorts, slacks, and so much more.
Fall Trend #4: Jackets
Like the cardigan of the early 2010s, the jacket will now reign supreme! Any kind of jacket will do: cargo, jean, chambray, leather, and suede are all great options. It doesn’t mean you should throw out your cardigans but be sure to pick up several different jacket options as your main layering pieces for fall.
Fall Trend #5: Colorful Knits
We said don’t throw out the cardigans and here’s exactly why! Colorful knits are going to be huge this fall season and that includes sweaters as well as cardigans. Whether it’s a solid color or a fun pattern, stock up on your knits in more than just white, black, gray, and other neutrals you probably already have.
