Sizes 8–16 and 14w–24w are cut on different blocks: the plus sizes have a higher rise and a roomier leg opening (approx. 17 1/2" vs. 14 1/2"). If you're between a 16 and a 14w, the 14w offers a little more room through the hip and thigh.
The high rise sits right at your waist with a hidden elastic inner band that flexes as you move, so there's no gap at the back on long days of sitting, driving, or chasing kids. It relaxes through the hip and stays straight and easy through the thigh.
From the thigh the leg runs straight, then tapers to an ankle-length hem finished with snap tabs. Keep them snapped for a crisp, cropped finish with sneakers or tall boots tucked over, or unsnap for a relaxed hem with flats.
