Plus Size Zoom Call Outfit Ideas

With so many gals working from home these days, wardrobes are drastically changing! Covid-19 changed so much and the fashion world was not left untouched. At the Spring 2021 Market we attended, we learned from many designers that they are taking into consideration the fact that more women are working from home. The desire for fashionable, professional, yet comfy clothing is at an all time high.

A zoom call outfit is essentially like a mullet. You know, business up front, party in the back? Except here the saying is “Business up top, cozy on the bottom.” That’s the great part of a zoom outfit, you can focus on having a more professional top, and wear those yoga pants we’ve all been trying to pass as business-wear for years!

Here are some considerations around picking a great zoom outfit:

The cut of the top

Try and make sure that the top is figure flattering for your body type. Since the only thing visible is your chest and up, it’s important to focus on that area and put your best (shoulder?) forward. It doesn’t have to be yoga pants

We know that wearing yoga pants every day is the greatest joy of working from home, but hear us out. We believe if you look good, you feel good, and you’ll work better! Consider wearing a stretchy jean or even one of our great Spanx legging options! Just because you CAN wear yoga pants, doesn’t always mean you SHOULD! On days you need a little extra boost, try some regular pants to switch things up.

Accessorize to Elevate

The need for jewelry didn’t go away just because you started working from home! If anything, it made them more important than ever. The right necklace or earrings can really help you stand out, with little to no effort on your part! Longer necklaces are still in, but consider one a little shorter that will show better in the camera! Long, chunky earrings will help add some dimension to your face in a 2D world.

Don't Forget About Dresses!

Sometimes, those dresses in the back of our closets go untouched because we think we have nowhere to wear them! But we're here to set the record that they are perfect for a zoom call! Most dresses are surprisingly comfortable and typically will elevate your look so simply! Look for soft fabrics and cuts that aren't too restricting. Trust us, you won't be missing pants any time soon!

It’s all in the details

The cut of the top is just as important as the details of the top! Consider choosing tops that have some kind of uniqueness to them, such as a cowl-neck or baseball tee look! Be brave with patterns and colors as well! It will help you stand out in a sea of little squares. Layering can also help you achieve some detail. A structured jacket or sweater adds some dimension to your outfit and layers are always great when sitting so much of the day. Just because you’re working from home doesn’t mean you cannot be fashionable!
